Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan arrived to crease in the hope of making a good start in this New Zealand vs India (2019) Second ODI and made strong 154 runs for first wicket playing until 25.2 overs when first wicket of Dhawan got out in Trent Boult’s bowling caught by wicketkeeper Tom Latham. New Zealand bowlers Trent Boult & Lockie Ferguson each picked two wickets for their team. Ish Sodhi was economical of all bowlers. Otherwise, New Zealand bowling was devastated by Indians.

Martin Guptill & Colin Munro together scored 23 runs for first wicket when Guptill got out in 4.6 overs adding just 15 runs individually caught by Yuzvendra Chahal for Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Doug Bracewell (57 runs in 46 balls with five 4s and three 6s) & Tom Latham (34 runs in 32 balls with three 4s and a six) were top scorers in this failed chase for New Zealand and was able to make only 234 runs losing 10 wickets in 40.2 overs. Trent Boult remained not out in the end scoring 10 runs with one 4 and a six.
For India, bowlers were successful in restricting New Zealand from reaching the target. Kuldeep Yadav picked 4 wickets, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar & Yuzvendra Chahal picked 2 wickets each. Mohammed Shami & Kedar Jadhav had a wicket both. Kuldeep Yadav was also economical bowler in Indian bowling attack in this New Zealand vs India (2019) Second ODI.
